Great Experience with IPL!!!
by AmyP
I had decided to get IPL done for my sun spots and uneven skin tone. At only 27, it is very bothersome to have such splotchy skin, and although I avoid the sun like the plague (now) and have gotten chemical peels from other facilities, the spots are still there. I called Dr.Escobedo's office and they got me in the very same day, which could very well explain my long wait once I got there, so I can't complain too much. The doctor came in and assessed my "damage" and went over a plan of care. His staff then prepped me for the IPL by applying lidocaine and then later a gel. I was extremely scared that this would be painful, as I have had smoothbeam laser treatment done for my acne about 2 years ago and that felt like a rubber band popping in to my face as hard as it could. I was surprised to find that there was NO PAIN AT ALL. The doctor explained what he was doing the entire time, and was very gentle. After the fact, I was afraid that my face would look horrible and I wouldn't be able to go in public, wrong again. My face is a little brown today, nothing makeup can't fix, and I look fine so far. He was less aggressive on the first treatment to make sure my fair skin would not have any issues and that is something I really appreciated, a doctor who actually takes his time and does things right the first time. Honestly, I have gone to other cosmetic dermatologists in Austin, but this experience was so good, I don't have to continue my search. Thank you for the great experience, and for making me look like a million bucks, but for a lot less :)
Oh and by the way, I bought this amazing mineral SPF from his office that you brush on like powder, it is sweat proof, UVA/B/C resistant and it smells awesome, everyone should buy it :)
- Pros: Friendly Staff, Gentle, Took their time
- Cons: Long wait
Great services

I had the Vaser treatment with Dr and I am very happy with my results. The main advice I would give is to shop around for prices and see if he can compete. Although I got the treatment for 3500 for 3 areas, but this is because I won something at their Night of Beauty that I wasn't a canidate for. I would definetly go back here to have another treatment. Since then I have had thermage done of the face and I can really see a difference. I love the results from both of my services. The staff is nice, especially the receptionist there named Iris. She was really helpful with getting my paperwork together and answering all of my questions, and if it hadn't been for her I probably would have opted out.
- Pros: Effective treatments
- Cons: High cost

Unethical doctor, beware
by Allie1602
I had Thermage of the tummy done w/ Dr. Escobedo & paid $1695. I asked @ the consult if one treatment would be enough or if I need two. He told me I would definitely see results w/ one. During the treatment the machine kept buzzing, I asked & he said the ?tip? needed to be replaced, but that it was fine. I come to find out from another Dr. that you are not getting the full benefit if the tip is old & needs replacing. I never saw any results from the treatment, but Dr. Escobedo kept telling me soon I would. After six months I spoke w/ him and he offered me a free skin treatment worth roughly $100 dollars. Two days before the appointment his office called and said they needed to reschedule & would call me, they never did. When I finally called them back they said the ?machine? to do the treatment wasn?t in yet, but they would call me. It?s been over a year I have never heard back from them and I feel ripped off. $1695 is a lot of money to spend & a Dr. using old equipment that needs replacing on clients seems very shameful @ the very least. I feel like he is a con artist who stole my money.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Used old equipment needing replacement

Regarding Thermage, the operator has about 2 hours to use a tip before it expires. Hence, it is impossible to use an old tip. An audible sound indicates: a patient moves during the treatment (most common); improper tip temperature; inadequate tip pressure; or poor tip to skin contact. Patients notice results with one treatment, but we advise two sessions with a tummy tip (1200 pulses). This information is printed on all our forms. When asked if we could do it cheaper, we mentioned that we offer a face tip (200 pulses) for $1695. You decided to try the face tip instead. You understood the results would not be as noticeable. You mentioned that you would proceed with the larger tummy tip later. At that time, we were in the process of purchasing a new technology. I invited you to receive a free treatment ($1995). Unfortunately, the machine never received FDA clearance. We called to inform you. There was nothing unethical about this conduct.
sketchy

I visited the Escobedo Skin Center for a consultation appointment w Dr. Escobedo. This place is hard to find. While I was filling out paperwork ,one of the girls behind the desk was telling me about signing up for teeth whitening. I wasn't interested and thought it was odd. While I waited to meet with the doctor, she stepped out to smoke, then came back in and pressured me about the teeth whitening. After my consultation with the doctor, he offered to do the treatment that day. I stepped in to a TINY room for the treatment. Very uncomfortable. While he was doing the treatment he launched in to the high pressure sales pitch of teeth whitening. The services were cheaper than other offices, but this place was sketchy. Will not return.
- Pros: price; immediate appointments available
- Cons: location, atmosphere, service style

I want to thank you for taking the time to share your feelings with us, and I apologize that you had a hard time locating our medical practice. I experienced the same problem the first time I visited this area! We are located on Western Trails Blvd., which is one block south of Ben White between Packsaddle Pass and Frontier Trail, behind Central Market South.
We are very excited about all the wonderful procedures that we offer, and sometimes that excitement may seem like high pressure sales. We?ve seen some excellent results from our new Brite White Blue LED Teeth Whitening procedure, in particular, so we?re naturally enthusiastic about it. However, we discussed your posting at our team meeting a few weeks ago, and we have made some adjustments thanks to your valuable input.
Nicest staff in town
by NancySalse
I recently went to Escobedo Skin Center to have a facial with Monica. I have to say she is amazing at what she does. It was relaxing and smelled good. She told me the skincare she used on me was organic. I have had facials at other places but hated them because of that strong chemical smell. My skin looked better one day later, which is hard to do since most of the time I break out. I also have been having eyelash extensions done with her. Monica really knows what she's doing, they look gorgeous and I couldn't be happier. They are the cheapest in town for eyelashes, not like those pricey other places that you spend 300 + and then some. She does such a good job, Be sure to tip her!
- Pros: Cheap facials and eyelash extensions, Monica is such a gem! She'll even come in on Mondays or stay late
- Cons: Location is tricky, but defintely worth finding
Best MedSpa in Austin!
by NautralBeauty
I was sketchy about seeing Dr Mike since I have read some bad reviews on other sites, but after talking to a member of his staff to schedule my free consultation my mind was at ease. I had a consult with a staff member and then Dr Mike himself. He was really helpful and friendly and the receptionist girl help me get set up for financing. After having my procedure done I am completly happy, they even called me the day after to see how I was doing. I have been to alot of other med spas in town with cheaper prices, and cheaper results. This place is truly a rare gem of Austin, I would never consider going anywhere else.
- Pros: Great results, Nice staff
- Cons: Location can be a little tricky if you live far North

I loved my experience at this place! I was in for a consultation because I was not sure how to approach my concerns that I had. I was surprised when I found out that the consultation was free. After the consultation I felt better knowing my options. Dr. Escobedo was very informative. I went ahead and started my treatment. I am very happy with the results and without a doubt would refer my family and friends.

A few years ago, a staff member approached me regarding offering complimentary consultations. At first I was hesitant because I felt people would not value something for nothing. I was wrong. People like yourself come in every single day & thank us for the opportunity. We will continue to offer free consultations in the future.
Best in Austin

I have been a patient of Dr. Michael Escobedo for over 4 years now and have had many procedures done, always with excellent results. Dr. Escobedo is an excellent doctor who cares about his patients and their needs. I have had Botox, Restylane, Microdermabrasion and Photofacials, along with Thermage done on my face and neck, eyes, arms, abdomen, and legs. I love the results! I have also had permanent eye liner and Dr. Escobedo is like a mastered artist with his patients as his canvas! I truly believe he is the best in Austin.
- Pros: Very knowledgeable and qualified. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
- Cons: None

Goodlook and Smart
by salleyjohnson
Dr. Mike Escobedo was one of the first physicians to offer botox and collagen. He was honest with his evaluation of my skin condition. He provided me with aggressive yet safe alternatives to plastic surgery such as the photofacial. I have seen people who have gone to other doctors and I assure you he is the best! He told me he was starting to do silicon facial injections for permanent results, I cant wait!
- Pros: Honest, Experienced, Intelligent
- Cons: Pricey but worth it, appts. 4 weeks out, hard to find

At the Escobedo Skin Center, we believe there are too many alternatives for plastic surgery. WIth the technology boom recently experienced, new companies have increased their R&D departments to bring thousands of new products to the market each year. As long as we do our part to support ingenious innovations, we shall continue being blessed with non-invasive no-downtime technology.
