Sushi is EXCELLENT!

MMM! Mikado's is GREAT! I'm originally from Houston, so I go to eat sushi a LOT and I have to say that Mikado's is better than a lot of the restaurants in Houston. Their sashimi always tastes fresh, and their rolls are great too! Even their cooked dishes are some of the best I've had. I love this place and this restaurant is a must visit for all you sushi lovers.
- Pros: Sushi, Ambience, Parking, Service
- Cons: closed on Sunday

Dont make reservations there!

If you have a large party Mikado will not accommodate you. We tried to book a party of 15 three days in advanced and they initially agreed but then kept calling us trying to get us to change our time. They would go back and forth with the reservation time and they not very accommodating. There are too many other restaurants in Austin that appreciate our business and we are very disappointed with their customer service. They just lost 15 patrons!
If you have a large party GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

Extremely good all around

Great rolls- large, very fresh, well-rolled, and balanced in textures. The sauces are also excellent, and unlike some other local restaurants, the tables are amply spaced. The interior is nicely designed; this would probably be a great place to take a date.
We had spicy tuna rolls, spicy salmon rolls, yellowfin tuna nigiri and the krazi rolls. All were awesome. The krazi roll was probably the best roll I've had being that I love eel and eel sauce.
Mushashino used to be my favorite, but I'm moving over to Mikado now for the price and atmosphere. If you like good sushi and a nice environment without paying premium prices for extremely dinky portions (Uchi, I'm looking at you) try this place.
- Pros: Excellent sushi, nice atmosphere, parking
- Cons: 4.25 for mineral water?
Best sushi ever

This restaurant frankly serves the best sushi I have had. I have been there several times and both the food and service have been consistently excellent. It can be a bit pricey, but it is well worth it. The atmosphere is also relaxing, intimate feeling, and quite romantic. I recommend it for any date or special occasion.
- Pros: Excellent sushi, romantic atmosphere, great service
- Cons: Slightly more expensive than average sushi, but well worth it
Inventive Japanese appetizers, generously sized sushi and lunchtime bento boxes are the stars at this sleek restaurant.

In Short
Stylish Japanese lanterns provide soft lighting in the dining room and the decor incorporates earthy brown and mustard colors. Lunch draws a lively crowd for the beautifully presented bento boxes offered until 2:30pm. Tangy seaweed salad with sesame is a favorite summertime starter. Ultra-fresh nigiri sushi features paper-thin lemon slices atop salmon and tuna. Desserts include the light Nagano rum keki cake: orange custard, rum syrup, raspberry puree and fruit-coulis flowers.
Beautiful and delicious sushi. Elegant, romantic atmosphere.

My friends and I all seem to agree that this is the best sushi restaurant in town. Spacious tables in an elegant dining room are so much better than the cramped little tables I'm used to at sushi restaurants. The sushi is fresh and delicious. I love the thinly sliced seared beef appetizer. It is served in a martini glass and melts in your mouth. The Hottie Susan is fantastic. They also have an excellent eel/ebi roll, I think it is called Krazy Ebi or something. It has tempura flakes and the most succulent eel I've tasted, along with a very good sauce. It is by far the best eel roll I've had in Austin. The service is always prompt and attentive.
They also have a lovely private dining room for large parties. But there truly isn't a bad seat in the restaurant.
- Pros: Sushi freshness, flavor and presentation. Quiet and romantic.
- Cons: A little pricey, but not more expensive than the other sushi restaurants in town.
Great for lunch!

Fresh, tasty food served quickly. The bento lunches are a fantastic value for your $$. I've tried the grilled scallop, sushi, and Chorishi's tempura bentos and they are all extremely good. Sushi a la carte is fresh and unpretentious at a fair price, though the unagi maki is slightly oversauced. Attentive, respectful service. Prompt seating before noon and after 1:00. A great getaway from the office.
- Pros: good food at a good price, ambiance is soothing
- Cons: can get crowded on the weekend and during the lunch hour
