Great Food trumps all other negatives.

My husband and I love this place for the food alone. The garlic sauce is absolutely to die for! It's a traditional creamy Grecian garlic sauce, potato-based (though you cannot taste the potato) with lots of lemon. The inside of the restaurant is a little weird, and the service is a little...eh. We mostly do take-out now. The last two times I have called, though, they do not answer. Does anyone know if this restaurant is closed now?
- Pros: FOOOOOOOOD, BYOB
- Cons: The "past its prime" feel of the physical restaurant (location, decor, wait staff, etc...)
An intersection of two Austin highways offers Mediterranean delights for the mouth, eyes and ears.

In Short
Burnt-orange and cream walls, Middle Eastern music and cozy tables create a warm atmosphere. Accents include hanging tapestries, decorative hookahs and a Mediterranean Sea wall painting. Diners includie groups in their 30s who come for quick, friendly service. Baba ghanouj is topped with olive oil and parsley. Combination chicken shawerma and gyro features subtly spiced, moist grilled chicken. Lamb/beef gyro, is accompanied tzatziki (yogurt-herb-garlic) sauce. Simple hummus is strong with chickpea essence.
OK Food, Bad Ambience, Terrible Service

The only good thing I can say about this restaurant is BYOB.
The food is just ok, nothing extraordinary. The waiter was very rude. Seemed bothered whenever we asked him for something.
The lady's bathroom was disgusting.
Don't waste your time. Just go to Ararat
We'll try again :)

The first time this family of four has eaten there, the food was fabulous, and the prices werent bad either IF they had gotten our order right
My husband and I both had the Gyro plates (Lunch Rate) very yummy!
My Daughter ordered the gyro kids plate (She is 11) They brought and charged us for the adult priced menuThe only thing on the plate she ate was the meatShe hates rice didnt try the hummus and didnt touch her salad A complete waste of money!
My Son ordered the chicken sandwich, Very good deal for a kid he loved it!
At first he wanted to try the Greek salad, So I said 1 small Greek salad, then he cut me off and said no mom I want tomato basil soup So I told the guy okay never mind hell have the tomato basil soup.
Our food arrived, we had no idea that our Daughter had been given the wrong plate and all for of us got a saladSo had no idea that the kids menu didnt have salads and he never removed the salad from the orderAND the tomato basil soup is FANTASTIC.
So in short our bill was 40.00 where it should have been 32.55
I know its not that big of a deal but it is to us the way Gas prices are...
So if you have a kid that looks 12 or older but is not you better speak up before you order!
We have not lost faith in them though, we will return for one of the Saturday Dance nights!
- Pros: Lunch prices, kid friendly, good food
- Cons: Slow service

Great Greek in Austin!
by steve_borkowski
Had the falafel, kibbee, gyro, moussaka, and hummus. The kibbee, gyro, and mousaka were about as perfect as can be. The falafel was a little too brown on the outside, but inside was perfect. The hummus seemed to need just a little more garlic. Hands down, beats Zorba's in menu selection and taste. If you like greek, beat feet to the Pyramids!
- Pros: Taste, Quality, Cost
A terrible experience (Fluke?)
by msc22
Four of us went there. Seemed a little busy, but the waitresses were moving around quickly. While sitting, another group of four came in about a minute or so after us. When our waitress came back, she took their order first before coming to us.
After 40 minutes, we noticed that the other group was already served, and people that came in much later were receiving their food too. After 50 minutes we told the waitress we'd been waiting an hour, so she walked off and *yelled* that we had not been there an hour. The manager (I presume) came out and we simply told him what had happened and that we needed our orders to go.
After 70 minutes, our four orders were ready but without forks, napkins, or cups to perhaps transfer our drinks into. Only a weak apology with a 2nd-entree-50%off coupon. Late for work.
- Pros: tasty food, comfortable, air conditioned
- Cons: , too few waitresses, Parking
Give it a try!

Went with a friend during lunch, good value... our waitperson was very attentive and friendly. The lamb/beef meat was a bit "well-done"... but- it was still enjoyable... I always give things a second chance. However, they are not the friendliest over the phone!!! I hope this restaraunt grows and improves to become a lasting delight!
- Pros: Inexpensive, Easy to find
Wonderful

Much better then Marakesh, my husband and I will return. The salad was unbeatable, we shared a fried cheese appetizer that was delicious (though it really needs to be served with pita). Husband had lamb, I had gyro platter. Enjoyed both, the hummus was executed very well. My only complaint is the kitchen needs to be faster..dishes were slow to arrive, though they came out warm, and that this place, like Marrakesh, serves store quality pita. Warm, but thin and hard to chew...instead of moist and soft chewy, like homemade pita is.
- Pros: FOOD, atmosphere, parking
- Cons: speed, pita
Not so Wonderful Experience
by sultanid
Unfortunately, the Pyramids is no longer as wonderful as it was. The service is lagging and unknowledgeable. The Sauteed Goat cheese is just about as tough and rubbery as the Kabobs. The once fabulous Baklava is now stale & lacking in flavor. The hooka was even awful, the hose was so full of ash that every time I took a puff, I got the left overs from all the previous users tobacco selections. When I asked to speak with a manager, there was not one in the restaurant! Too bad.
- Pros: , Inexpensive
- Cons: Food overcooked, Poor service, Lack of management
