Worst bar ever with rude people working in

by Dannayelli

A guy that was cleaning the bathroom at the pub kicked me out of the bar for the rear door just 'cuz I asked if he was going to take long cleaning it!! Unbelievable!! You don't do that to a woman. Then the guys in the main door didn't let me get back to pay my check and get my credit card back. My boyfriend stayed inside the bar all the time without know that I was already outside. Thanks for messed my night up Darwin's Pub.

  • Pros: Couldn't find any
  • Cons: Poor service and bad treatment

Avoid the pub and its whacked-out manager

by cockytex

It?s kind of a dive place, but the band was good.

If you don?t mind having the manager screaming profanities at your wife, manhandling you, and attacking you as you leave, then it is a fine place to go.

If you are just wanting to have a drink and a good time and don?t really want to deal with a whacked-out, ?roided-up, whacko screaming profanities, then go elsewhere.

  • Pros: good band, reasonable prices
  • Cons: violence, profanity, rude treatment of customer

Best Happy Hour Bar

by calinatx

By far the best HH bar on Sixth Street. Bartenders are friendly, outgoing, and relateable, as are most of the regulars. Many people go in to play trivia at the bar, watch the games, and just sit and chat. The food - Meditteranean wraps - is very reasonably priced and very tasty. Darwin's is a good place to stop in for a quick bite and a beer if you are on the way to work or just in town with friends and want a friendly environment while barhopping. Definately a favorite place.

  • Pros: Casual and friendly environment
  • Cons: Parking (6th Street)

Awesome hang out

by sandras13

Darwin's is a place where you can get good grub, good beer, and you meet the best people in town. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff makes you feel at home. We have had several happy hour get -togethers and the owner as well as the staff are very attentive and they want to make sure we are having a good time. CJ is the owner with a hot, gorgeous body, plus an awesome cook and I just want to have his baby...and drink some beer!!! Great place to hang out!!

  • Pros: great staff, awesome specials
  • Cons: they are not open 24/7

great band coming to Darwin's this Saturday

by bencarl

This isn't a food or drink review but a big recommendation for an upcoming gig at Darwin's. Saturday night, March 15 at 8 pm, a little ole band from Louisville, Kentucky , Marion Square, will be playing. These kids are the real deal! Their music is a great mix of acoustic-based, slightly psychedelic, slightly alt melodies and strong lyrics (by drummer Ian Willmot and guitarist Brian Goodwin), with the tasteful electric lead guitar of Brent Wilkenson and the especially strong vocals of McCall Cruse. While they are hard to define musically, they give a totally enjoyable stage show that appeals to a wide-range of musical tastes. Catch this band so some day you can say "I saw them at Darwin when they were just starting out." You won't be disappointed. Come early for dinner and leave late. If I wasn't in London, England, I would be there.

great bar staff and great owner, seating inside provides great view of bar and tv's...

by chicagocookie23

on occasion, i'd venture into this place and set up shop to drink and stare out the window. then on one of these occasions i met the owner and we chatted a bit. then i chatted w/the bar staff.

all were friendly and great company!

now when i go in there, i feel very welcomed and i must say that this is the only bar where i have no problem staying there the whole evening... usually i like to barhop!

yeah this happens at other bars too i'm sure but i must give props to my fave bar in austin :)

  • Pros: great service, good drinks, nice atmosphere :)
  • Cons: parking, but hey it's 6th street...

Sixth Street corner bar features outgoing staff and substantial space.

by Contributor

In Short
A vibrant white sign signals the door to this spacious corner spot. Looming in the center is the square bar, capped with four televisions typically tuned to sports. Dark wood accents, crests and a few animal heads contribute to the medieval-like feel. Being situated right alongside the competition encourages stray barhoppers. The daily drink specials, live music three nights a week and few tables are sprinkled throughout make this a popular spot for socializing.
