Garlic Knots!

by austingirl771

The garlic knots at rounders are better than any knot I have ever tried. They are hot, flaky and covered in fresh garlic. They go perfect with beer! My husband and I usually order pepperoni with fresh garlic, lots of cheese and those wonderful tiny little pepperonis - little bits of awesomeness! The pizza prices are really good - cheap almost. Rounders is really clean and the food is great - those are my most important restaurant requirements. I have lots of good things to say about Rounders!

Good Pizza

by KIDA26

Rounders is pretty good pizza. It won't knock your socks off, but it is good. They lay the cheese on pretty thick, which is always a good thing IMO. The prices are good for what you get. They have awesome old school tabletop games like Frogger and Donkey Kong that double as tables. They also have a dog friendly patio and even bring your Fido a personal bowl of ice water if you want. The service is alright (although I have never been during peak hours), and the place seems a bit stuff. The wait staff is never very chatty and do not make you feel warm and fuzzy. But it you are down for some good chewy and cheesy pizza, give Rounders a try.

  • Pros: The Pizza is Tasty, Prices, Dog Friedly, Tabletop Games!
  • Cons: Stuffy Feeling Despite the Awesome Tabletop Games, Parking

Don't Sit On The Patio

by CixelsydATX

Ok, so I've only been to Rounders Pizza once, but the one time was just slightly better than a terrible experience. The appetizer was buried in garlic, the pizza was ok, but the lack of service was what the problem was. It was a very nice night about a month ago and we decided to eat out on the patio. It was a weeknight so there wasn't alot of customers there (I think there was 2 other tables that night), but the server seemed like she didn't want to acknowledge that we were there. A couple of occasions we had to get up from our table to try to get service. Overall: I would give the place another try, but I won't be sitting on the patio.

  • Pros: Cool location and ambiance.
  • Cons: Bad service on the patio.

GREAT PIZZA

by jdoggy1

I have lived in Austin only a few months and one of my first goals was to find a great pizza place. I had tried many others around the area but none seemed up to pare with my standards. I had my first experience at Rounders three week's ago and found the pizza and service very delightful. I have enjoyed pizza there twice since then and have yet to be disappointed. They have amazing garlic knots and plenty of beer to choose from. In all I would say this is a perfect little place to enjoy a good pie and a cold beer .

  • Pros: quick service, great value

Boring Food, Uncomfortable Atmosphere

by PizzaFreak33

Rounders is a pseudo-pizzeria. No one seems to ever be eating there when I've gone. It's only crowded on weekends. The owner refuses to have a waitlist system, so you just have to stand in cramped corners while you wait to eat. It's not cool enough in the restaurant, so they close the drapes. But if you want to open the drapes while you eat lunch with your date and enjoy a view of 6th, forget it. They told us we couldn't open the drapes because it gets too hot but why don't they just turn down the AC? They probably don't want to pay for it. One of my buddies found A STAPLE in his slice of pizza but he let it go because the server gave him a discount. This place is not worth stopping by.

  • Pros: Not too expensive
  • Cons: No specials, Claustrophobic Atmosphere, Mediocre Food

Good Pizza, Horrible Service

by ewiggin

Coming from NY my fiancee and I were pleasantly surprised to find a place that served genuine NY style pizza. Our first visit was wonderful. The waiter gave us free garlic knots and charged us for a 14" pizza while actually serving us an 18" pizza. Since then we have been back about 10 times and have never received the same wonderful service. We are ignored, the quality of the pizza goes from just ok to completely unrecognizable as NY style pizza. My biggest complaint is that if I ask for my leftovers to be boxed they stack each slice of pizza on top of each other and wrap the whole pile in aluminum foil making the pizza inedible. Anywhere else I go for pizza they put the leftovers in an actual pizza box. I have even specifically asked for the leftovers to be put in a box, but it is apparent the waiters don't care or don't hear the request. The worst part is we have not been able to find any other local pizza place in Austin that makes anything close to NY style pizza so we are basically forced to eat at Rounders or order from one of the big chains. The fact that the owners are supposedly from just outside of NYC in New Jersey makes Rounders even more of a disappointment.

  • Pros: Pizza and other food (sometimes)
  • Cons: Pizza and other food (sometimes), always the service

Casual, casino-themed restaurant features inexpensive hand-tossed New York pizza.

by Contributor

In Short
A retro neon sign welcomes diners to the outdoor patio and seating area at the front of this popular pizza restaurant on West Sixth. The front counter/authentic blackjack table plus a roulette-wheel-themed menu enhance wine-colored walls and soft lighting. Three rooms enable privacy; a fireplace adds coziness. Customers include neighborhood locals. Thin, handmade pizza crusts don't overpower toppings such as sliced meatballs, sweet fennel-infused Italian sausage and kalamata olives. Colorful Caprese salad intermingles tomato and buffalo mozzarella with basil.

Great PIzza, Great Date Place

by txredheart

My boyfriend and I love this place! It has a great cozy atmosphere, not too loud. We always get seated quickly even on weekends. We've ordered several pizzas and they have some fun unique things including ricotta cheese, but you can get the old standbys as well like pepperoni, sausage. The crust is yummy and they make this great knot bread out of it as well. We usually split a salad (good, green delicious-not just iceberg lettuce), get the knots to go with it and then split a large pizza. (It makes for great leftovers too). Niether of us are drinkers, but it looks like they have a good selection of beer and wine. They even have a really nice patio when the weather's good you can sit out there and people watch on west 6th street.

Great Pizza, Unique Setting, Austin Vibe

by mountainmanven

If you're looking for great pizza with prompt seating, Rounders is the place to go. The pizza sauce is great, the cheeses are good, the toppings are fresh, the salads are pretty good, and the garlic knots (bread rolls) are perfect. Rounders has a decent beer and wine list, and the fountain drinks are served in the big, old fashioned iced tea plastic cups, so you don't have to worry about needing refills. Prices are substantially lower than other premium pizza joints.

  • Pros: Pizza, Seating Time, Garlic Knots

i don't understand how they advertise delivery service

by mickem

i eat out a lot, and after a busy day there's nothing like the conveinence of ordering a delicious pizza and salad. i really like rounders pizza, but EVERY SINGLE TIME i call for delivery, they can't do it. it's either they aren't delivering until later or they don't have a driver, and one time--get this--they "didn't feel up to it." i prefer rounders over mangia because they are less expensive, delicious, and have calzones. but rounders will not win back my business until they get their act together.

  • Pros: good pizza
  • Cons: worst service in austin, nonexistent delivery
