We aren't stupid !

I think it's pretty obvious that 98% of the GOOD reviews on Thomas Super Buffet are wrtitten by an employee and/or the OWNER of the buffet. Look at how each review has the same typos and sentence structure!
If you want GOOD reviews for your place of business, then MAKE SOME CHANGES! Don't come on here and write the reviews yourself. We aren't stupid - Thomas Super Buffet is AWFUL.

Perfect for anyone on the "see food " diet, this all-inclusive buffet is easy on the wallet.

In Short
Nestled in a strip mall next to various home stores, this North Austin buffet is light on the ambiance and heavy on the return trips to its ample buffet line. Most popular for lunch, the spacious dining room fills with the sounds of nearby diners and clinking plates as hungry patrons sidle up to buffet counters to pile their plates with a range of global cuisines. Some of the more upscale offerings include a self-serve Mongolian stir-fry, sushi and sashimi, and boiled seafood. Chinese dishes such as walnut shrimp and stir-fried vegetables rest alongside more Americanized offerings like pizza and mac 'n' cheese.
This is the worst food I have ever tried to eat.

As my husband and I walked the smell was bad and we started to leave, and we should have. We put very little on our plates because it all looked so dried out. We tried to eat some of it but it was so bad we just pushed our plates away. I thought I would at least eat my hot and sour soup, no one can ruin that. Once again I was wrong. Without eating anything we ask for the check and told them the food was not fit to eat. They did not even act like we had complained. We felt they should have at least said we are sorry you did not enjoy your lunch, as they took our money. We have never walked a check, but that was one time we would have felt justify. Please do not go there and waste your money. I plan to call the Health Dept. and ask if they will check on it, there is not way they are meeting the regulations.
- Pros: I live in a free country and never have to go there again.
- Cons: Everything about it
This place is no good!!!
by peopleplease29
I always like to try out places for myself instead of just going by what I read in these reviews because I figure the people who give bad reviews just had a bad experience and you really don't know until you try it yourself. I decided to give this place a try to see if it was a great place to eat like they advertise on tv.....well its not! I want so badly to say that the food was mediocre, but that would be too generous. The food is horrible! Not a good selection at all...the broccoli beef had no flavor whatsoever and I can't stand when chinese restaurants use dark meat to make the sesame chicken, it should be white meat and crispy and not breaded and soggy. They had sushi on the bar that looked like it was sitting out for a while and the bar was very dirty. Eating raw food could be dangerous especially if they don't keep the place around the sushi/sashimi clean. They have steaks on their "American" corner of the bar but no steak sauce, just the usual bottle of asian hot sauce. Not enough good choices just a bunch of shrimp and some fish. The service was horrible the waitresses were running around cleaning tables and not paying attention to the customers. I had to ask twice before I was brought a coke which should have been a water. Too many tables, too crowded. The only time anyone acknowledged my exsistence was when I got up to leave, thats the only time they hurried when it was time to give me the check. I paid $12.50....what a rip off! Don't waste your time or your money here. Go to the Wokaholic on Wells Branch the food and service is better!!!
- Pros: Soda was good.
- Cons: Soda was the only thing that was good.
Good Buffet, don't expect the Ritz

This is a good buffet, not Las Vegas great or anything, but filling and okay. I like that mongolian grill style veggies and low grade sushi are included with every buffet, no extra charge. Their walnut shrimp or chicken (menu varies) is excellent (better than many higher end chinese resturants) and worth the $7 for lunch. When you want a litte of everything try this place. It is my favorite BUFFET in Austin, better than: Buffet Palace, Hwan Yuan, Nanking, N.S. China Sea, but there are many better CHINESE/ASAIN resturants in Austin. The restaurant is clean enough, but its in a old building. Listen folks you are getting what you pay for. My wife hates this place and refuses to go with me but me and my brother like it just fine. Don't take a date here (at least not if you want to go out with her again). Then again, dont take a date to any buffet unless she is over 400 lbs. Try Thomas, you'll probably come back.
Good food, good service

Great Chinese Food. Very good service. Went there on a Saturday night. Wonderful service, plenty of food and othe best gauge of a Chinese restuarant - there were plenty of Asian families and twenty somethings there with their dates. Cute waitress a plus!
- Pros: Parking, food, service
Worst Buffet In America
by redemptionjanedoe
This indeed was the worst buffet I had ever been to in my whole life! There was not much food to choose from. There were only meat selections like meat on a stick, and a few other meat dishes. There really were not vegetable oriented sides or anything like that. This is the 1st buffet I've ever been to that I can really say is completely worthless!!! Even the worst ones are better than this one.
I want my twenty bucks back
by barthur79
Everything about this place is trashy and disgusting. The food, the atmosphere, my fellow diners, the smell....I used to eat at a chinese buffet located in the back part of a gas station that was better than this. If I could turn back time, I would've gone to McDonald's instead, and that is really saying something. I would have rather eaten a day old 7-11 hot dog than this garbage. I actually considered doing a 'dine n dash' because I was so upset about the idea of paying to eat that "food". I wish I would have.
Dumpsters have better buffet

This is the worst buffet i've ever been to, if you can even call it a buffet. There is nothing "super" about this place at all. To start off, I ordered an ice tea to drink, and went to get some food from the buffet. When I sat back down my drink was on the table. I went to take a sip and noticed TRASH IN MY DRINK!!! A greasy fortune cookie paper was stuck to the inside rim of my glass, in plain sight, yet they decided to serve it to me anyway. I attempted to chase down a waitress to serve me another drink, but not until the end of my "meal" did i receive a fresh drink. Needless to say I didn't drink that one either.
On to the food...
Every seafood item they served was either undercooked or looked like they scraped it off the side of the road. I will admit I did not try any "cooked" seafood, but I'm not about to eat shrimp that isn't even pink yet. They had a sushi chef preparing food right behind the counter, so I thought it might be safe... it was warm and had the consistency of a slug. My wife tried the mongolain bbq, thinking it might be a safe bet. Wrong. It was prepared by a bus boy, who in plain sight of my wife, alternated between cooking food and bussing dirty dishes without washing his hands. After almost losing my appetite from the sushi I decided to find some normal chinese food. They only thing they offered besides rice and eggrolls was sesame chicken, general tso's chicken, and pepper steak. The pepper steak was literally pink and bloody in a few spots, the sauce in the general tso's chicken tasted like water strained through a baby's diaper, and honestly the sesame wasn't horrible, but has been better at every other place i've been to.
To top it all off it cost me and my wife 23 bucks to eat during lunch. I could have paid a homeless man 23 bucks to stab me in the spleen and had a better time.
- Pros: I threw up my lunch and it tasted better on the way back up
- Cons: Everything about this place
