I've been seeing both Dr. Wang and Dr. Lee at Acupuncture Plus for two years, for my chronic asthma and bronchitis. In all cases, I have left their office feeling better after the very first session, and they bring me to full health within 3 - 5 sessions. They're very caring, supportive healers. I would never, ever go back to Western medicine to treat asthma. Relying on rescue inhalers, steroid inhalers, bronchio-dilators and antibiotics is no way to live! With acupuncture and Chinese herbs -- I go about once a year, for several sessions at a time -- I never have asthma anymore. I now do triathlons, run 10Ks, rode my bicycle this year in the 45-mile Hill Country Ride for AIDS -- none of which I could have done just a few years ago, when I had asthma attacks every day. Now, I call Acupuncture Plus at the first sign of chest tightness or bronchitis, and Drs. Wang and Lee bring me quickly back to health.

Pros: It works, long-term! And no bad side effects!

Cons: A bit expensive, unless your health ins. covers it.

I am a practising R/n for the past 17years, recently my husband Steve was diagnosed with having a Herniated disc (L4-L5). He was put on pain medicine round the clock, but he did not have much relief .He was not able to walk , sit or stand for more than a second, before the pain would start which radiated to his thighs down to his knees forcing him to fall to his knees. So I went online to search for an acupuncture center when I cam across Dr Guoen Wang clinic ,after I read his qualifications I was very impressed and called him asking him if he could cure my husband, without hesitation he told me with confidence that he had treated a lot cases like my husband and to send him that very morning at 10.30am. My husband went for his appointment and came home very impressed as ,after the very first sitting he was now able to stand without the pain radiating to his thighs,Dr Wang had also started him on herbal medications which he felt added to his recovery. With just eight sitting my husband was back on his feet, and back to work,I now strongly feel that people with chronic back pain ,who live their lifes depending on pain medication should try Acupuncture it really helps..........specially people with herniated disc's or slip disc's ,who are thinking of surgery should try Acupuncture first to see if it helps them. Dr. Wang, thank you once again for this miracle you performed on my husbands back with your treatment.

Response from this business

I am so glad your husband Steve came and got well!

I am so glad that you called me and had your husband Steve come. It really made me happy knowing that your husband is well now, so he can focus on providing and taking care of you and your kids, instead of worrying about health and future.

I am a 66 year old woman and have been a happy and satisfied client of Dr. Wang since he came to Austin, and I came to him with a variety of ailments, physical and emotional over the years. In fact, the only times that I went to a western doctor were for my annual well-woman check-ups and tests with a gynecologist, and vision tests. He has successfully treated me for stress, colds, cholesterol reduction, cataracts, a tooth, hair and toenail, and more. Many times I have gone to him with the burdens of life either dragging me down to depression or causing me to have anxiety. I would leave his office after acupuncture relieved of those symptoms and being a happy person again. If I had cold or allergy problems, he could lessen the time I was uncomfortable with that ailment, using acupuncture and herbs. In 2000 I started taking herbs for my hair to thicken and renew its color. An added benefit was a toenail that renewed its health. Since an injury as a teenager, a toenail was disfigured, dark and attached only partially. Every year or so it would come off. But now it is almost back to normal, no more black, and much more attractive too! When I was in Austin I would see Dr. Wang every 8 weeks for a "tune up" as we called it. This kept me feeling great and my health to maximum. Two years ago I followed my daughters to live in Florida, and my biggest concern was leaving Dr. Wang. I'm sorry to say that I have not found his equal here. I might have to come back to Austin!

In the winter of 1999, after years of deteriorating health due to asthma, I found myself in the emergency room of Brackenridge Hospital, struggling to breathe as I received steroid breathing treatment after steroid breathing treatment. After three of these breathing treatments my pulse was racing at a rate that was dangerous for my heart, yet I still could not breathe. At this point, the emergency room doctor determined that I would have to be admitted to the hospital and given treatments every four hours until I could breathe again. This went on all night and the next day. Finally, after two horrible days and nights, I was able to draw a decent breath of air. This is when the doctors working on my case came into my hospital room and told me that Id have to take cortico-steroids for the rest of my life. This both disturbed and frightened me. I knew that steroids cause brittle bones among other negative side effects, and I didnt believe that the medicine would be effective against my asthma for the rest of my life. After leaving the hospital, I talked with friends about my options, and soon enough a trusted friend convinced me to try acupuncture. I was both skeptical and scared Id always been terrified of needles but I decided I had to give it a try. That was the best decision I could have made. I went to acupuncture once a week at first, then every other week, drinking herbal teas every day. Finally, after about six months of regular treatments and herbs, I was off my routine inhalers for the first time in ten years something I thought would never be possible. Its now been over three years since Ive needed regular medication. I still take herbs and receive acupuncture treatments a few times a year, but am almost free of symptoms. I hope one day to have my full health restored, and believe it will happen with the help of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I had resolved myself to a life of pain from three degenerated discs. My body was slowly deteriorating from my travel schedule as a motivational speaker and I felt I was facing a life of poor health. A friend suggested I see Dr. Guoen Wang. My initial visit with Dr. Wang was most encouraging for he literally told me I could be healthy and live pain free. I was a bit skeptical but willing to try anything at this point in my 55 years. Even at my first visit I found I relaxed and slept during the treatment, an amazing, relaxing rest. I started to look forward to my treatments because I felt so euphoric during and after, but several days after the sixth visit I realized I had been pain free for several days! I could not believe it I could not believe that I could move, bend and lift as I had not in years. I continued through the eight-week treatment, and then did not go in for regular visits. Again, I found myself experiencing pain. When I went back to Dr. Wang I found that what I really needed to do was to schedule periodic tune-ups. Then I had an annual physical only to discover that I had elevated cholesterol. The medical doctors were less than hopeful, and quite frankly, frightened me to death with my prognosis. I went to see Dr. Wang, who not only encouraged me, but also told me I could live a comfortable life pain-free with normal cholesterol. Ive had multiple problems with menopause, back pain, cholesterol and minor ailments. At age 57, I have learned that acupuncture is a means to keep me healthy, pain-free and feeling great for many, many years. I have a healthy appetite and sleep like a baby if I get my tune-ups! Dr. Wang and I decided that I will live to age 85 or maybe longer.

I became a patient of oriental medicine quite a few years back because of almost intractable sinus pain......at that point I was driving about 140 miles east way from Alpine, TX, to San Angelo, TX, for Drs Liu and Xu. It took about 6 treatments, spaced a week apart to stop the pain and now a treatment a year takes care of the sinus pain. Drs Liu and Xu returned to China about 4 years ago and I searched for an Acupuncturist near me, but finally found Dr. Guoen Wang in Austin, about 340 miles away but a place I do have occasion to visit. By then my problem was numbness in my hands and forearms, the beginnings of carpal tunnel syndrome. A year ago in the spring I was in Austin regularly enough for him to stop the numbness. Now I'm having more trouble getting to Austin, but as often as I can I will see Dr Guoen Wang because he gives me more help than conventional medicine.

After having a stroke at the early age of 43, I became very ill with stomach problems. The doctors had no answer for the pain and nausea I was experiencing. Only many pills. One doctor said that I would have pain the rest of my life. A friend of mine who has cancer recommended her acupuncturist who has provided continued support even when her doctors had told her they had done all they could do. She was quite well from her acupuncture and amazed her doctors. I had to see the acupuncturist twice a week for many months, but I was finally well. No more pills. I cannot thank acupuncturists enough.

Ten years ago, there was an incident where I was hurt and there was damage done to my back. Four years ago, I started to have digestive problems, and in the last year, I started having migraine headaches and energy issues. So knowing what I was faced with I was ready to give up on feeling good and was prepared to live the rest of my life in pain and suffer from digestive problems. Then a friend of mine told me about Dr. Wang and I was curious and skeptical of what acupuncture was and what it could do for me. When I had the first treatment I was not sure of what to expect and Dr. Wang put me at ease right a way. It was like a regular doctors visit, he took my information, and he discussed my problems with me and then mentioned how many treatments it would take to get back to feeling good again. Being at ease with him, but knowing what I was going to have done to me, I wanted to pay close attention to him placing the needles into my skin. It was painless and only a couple of times it felt uncomfortable; otherwise I thought it was cool. He treated one side for twenty minutes and then the other side for the same time. After the treatment, I felt like I was walking on clouds and did not understand what just took place. Then we talked a little and then he gave me some herbs for the energy problems and some other herbs for the migraine headaches. I went thought this process five more times and after each session, I felt even better than the time before. I began to notice that I was not having back pain, my digestive problems cleared up, and my energy was up. As for the migraine headaches, they lessened in intensity and eventually cleared up. I am grateful for Dr. Wang_s acupuncture treatments because he was able to help me with my health troubles. Now I can put those issues behind me and look forward to a healthy life once again.

It was spring of 96 and the quickie guerrilla septic system was well full and just not working anymore. It was time to dig it out and replace it. I started digging, and as it was all sand the digging went pretty fast. I got into a flow and dug away all day long. Woke up the next morning and got to digging some more. The hole ended up being 15 feet long and where the fifth barrel was placed 11 feet deep, all hand dug. Towards the middle of that second day I noticed a new pain on the left side of my groin. Didn't stop me from digging though. So I proceeded till the hole was complete. The discomfort had increased a bit so after I cleaned up I set to checking myself out to see what was amiss. After a bit of probing I figured it out. I'm a registered nurse, but have let usage of allopathy go as Chinese Medicine is so superior a healing modality. I still know my nursing chops though and was pretty well bummed out at what I had discovered was wrong with me. I had popped an inguinal hernia. Dayum! This was Friday. The first thing I did was call Guoen to set up an appointment for Saturday. I had a doctor living on the commune with me so I had him check it out that Friday evening. He concurred and told me that treatment by allopathy would require a $5000 operation that would leave me incapacitated for weeks, be extremely painful for months, and was 50% successful. I got to Guoens office Saturday morning and got my needling as well as a prescription for some herbs. Before leaving I got an appointment for the following Saturday. The following Saturday I got my second treatment and was instructed to let Guoen know if I needed another for the third Saturday. I didn't. Hernia was healed with those two treatments and I've never had as much as a twinge from that area since.

I am 57 although I look 10 years younger. I have always looked and felt young for my age until about a year ago. Something happened and I started to feel like my brain was "blocked". I couldn't think with clarity or concentrate for any length of time. I began to feel sluggish...and old. There was a heaviness and dullness, a "blockage" at the base of my skull that just wouldn't go away. No matter how many hours of sleep I got or how long my walks were or how many neck massages I gave myself, this feeling wouldn't go away. I started to worry. Maybe my true age was starting to catch up with me. Was this how I was supposed to feel? I didn't believe it. There are to many others out there who are "on top" of everything and who are years older than me! This feeling wasn't going to take over my life! I hesitate to go to a medical doctor, as I am not eager to fill my body with chemicals and this just didn't feel like something a medical doctor would be able to fix or even understand. My Husband, who had made the acquaintance of Dr. Wang through his work, suggested I go see him. I had never been to an acupuncturist and harbored some doubts, but when Larry told me Dr. Wang was also an herbalist I decided to give him a call and open my heart to this new experience. Dr. Wang listened carefully to my symptoms and seemed to understand what I was talking about. Within just a couple of visits I was feeling much better. The feeling of being "blocked" was giving away to clarity again. With acupuncture and herbs my body was returning to the feeling of youth and vigor that I had always felt. I continue to take an herbal mixture that Dr. Wang makes for me and, when I feel the need, will return periodically for an acupuncture "tune-up". I am very thankful to Dr. Wang. His knowledge and gentle, personable, nurturing manner is refreshing and reassuring. It is a pleasure to go to his office.
