Gene is a new talent stylist at Vanity and he is the best value in austin. He give a great scalp massage and his shampoos are to die for. Love the attention, the customer service, the quality of the cut and the blowdry style was great. He styled my hair differnet than usual and that was great. He gave me some good ideas. He noticed my brows and waxed them for me. Boy what a difference. My eyes seem more open. He also suggested a hair gloss, I will get it next time. Love the Aveda products. Thank you Gene, thank you Vanity

I have long curly hair and normally when I get it cut, the stylist leaves me with a frizzy mane I have to go home and fix myself. It's a totally different story at Vanity. Gene not only listened to the way I wanted my cut done, but then he spent a lot of time, taking great care to style it well. I left the salon looking great! Thanks to Gene for knowing how to style curly hair! I'll definitely be back.

Erica is really great. She provided excellent service and is very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this salon and stylist.

Pros: knowledable staff, friendly, great products, conviently located, great atmosphere.

Cons: A little expensive, but worth it.

I have been to several stylists and have to say that I have found "THE ONE." Erica is amazing. She talks to you in depth about what YOU want and the best way to accomplish it. She is fun to talk to and extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of cutting and coloring. Everyone at the salon is so friendly and it has an unpretentious atmosphere. I highly recommend it!!!

I haven't reviewed on Citysearch before, but I feel the need to say a few things about Vanity Salon, and specifically about Holly. Let me first say that I, like many others, have struggled with trying to find a salon that I liked enough to revisit. Since moving to Austin in 2004, I must have been to at least 10 different salons. About a year and a half ago, I read about Vanity on Cityseach. My last haircolor appointment was a disaster, and I was beginning to feel that my expectations were too high and that perhaps I was doomed to have crappy hair forever. That all changed upon my visit to Vanity. First of all, the salon is in a cute, unpretentious little bunglow. It has sort of an edgy, funky feel to it, but at the same time it's very relaxed and cozy. Everyone is very nice. No snobbery here like in so many other salons I've been to. They always offer water, coffee, et cetera. They don't have those crazy policies I've seen at other salons, where they keep your credit card on file and charge you if you're late or if you have to cancel last minute. Anyway, what really keeps me going back to Vanity is Holly. She really listens and does what I ask her to do. She sees what I'm going for when I describe what I want or bring a picture, and she does it exactly how I ask -but better!!! At my last appointment a couple weeks ago, I wanted to change things up a little with my cut, but I told her I didn't really know what I wanted. To just take some length off and shape it, and do whatever she thought. It ended up being one of the best haircuts I've ever had. I also told her I wanted to go a little blonder with my highlights for summer, and she has this gift of knowing the exact shade that compliments my skin tone. On top of being a talented professional, she is a pleaure to chat with while she works her magic on your hair. All in all, I recommend that anyone looking for a great salon go to Vanity and, if possible, make an appointment with Holly. Your hair will thank you!

Cons: Only that I live in North Austin and Vanity is off S. Lamar!

Vanity is a great salon to go to! They have the best hair stylist there, Missy! Missy is amazing! My hair always looks amazing when I am done! Missy listens to what you are looking for and really works hard at getting it just the way you want!! She is the sweetest girl! She also teaches you little tricks to get your hair looking great on a daily basis! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Missy for all your hair needs! Make an appointment today and you will be so thrilled that you did!

I've been going to Vanity for about 8 months. I love Missy. I've been trying various salons for over the past couple of years and this is it! She asks what I want and how much time I'm able to spend on my hair in morning. She listens and WOW! I love getting my hair cut and colored at Vanity! I've recommended her to several of my friends.

I hardly ever write reviews, but this time I had to. I took an appointment from missy, whom I knew before she started working there. After waiting 30 minutes, I learned that she is not coming, because she was sick. I was upset, but hey its life, things happen. The staff was soooo friendly, and they asked me if I would prefer someone else to do it. I didn't cut my hair for a long time and needed a change, so I told them I would only want Laura herself to cut my hair. Surprisingly she was available. What a friendly person!!!!!!! I went to other high end salons before, and what an attitude, this salon is without that attitude, but with the best service!!! All I can say is WOW!!!!! I wanted a funky hair, but I also needed it in a way that I would be able to go to work. Laura, without even asking (I told her she can do whatever she wants) cut my hair exactly in my style. I am suspicious that she is a psychic, and a true mind reader :)) Bohemian, layered look, without needing to blow-dry. She is very friendly, and a true princess charming!!!!! Erica is perfect with the colouring. She is very sweet, too. She gave me bright red peak-a-boo highlights, which are great!!!!!! Laura and Erica you guys are the BESTTTTTT!!!!!!

I can not thank the staff of Vanity Salon enough. I am getting married next year and they are helping me so much. They are showing me ideas, we are cutting and coloring my hair, my bridesmaids and now my husband to be too. I love the Aveda makeup and that will be next. We are trying new looks to find what is comfortable and feels the most like me. Well, the best Me for MY day. I have to mention their waxing is superb also. Ladies it is highly recommended to practice this waxing before the honeymoon. First time was ouch, but now it is great.(and he loves it too)

I found out about this cozy salon through city search. So much was said about the team, how great they are doing color, cuts, hair removal and facials and then I looked them up on the Aveda network too. I found they said the same. So when I went in my expectations were set quite high. What I found was this down to earth,real people, comfortable salon. I didn't expect that too. I love my cut, I will be back for color and they talked about this hair glass. I love I can talk to them, they listen and know what they are doing. No attiude. Very different. Thank you Vanity.

Pros: Close to other cool boutiques, unique ideas, friendly, great value, great service

Cons: the smock I changed into had a button missing, bathroom water was cold
