Best Doctor Ever
by Beth Spiess at Citysearch
I have been a patient of Dr. Gilcrease's since 2003, when he first hung his license. I would never swich to another doctor. He is compassionate, professional, thorough, and funny. He is a doctor I trust, and who does not cut corners with his care. You cannot do better in finding a good GP. I have had my ups and downs with his staff, but mostly ups. Remember, sugar goes farther than vinegar.

Good Doctor. His staff stiffed us on our insurance. We had new insurance, called made apointments for our kids. His office called back and said we where good to go all taken care of. Got done with the appoinment, handed us two bills for $160 each. The lady said our insurance wasnt valid till the next day. Didnt stop them from seeing us or telling us before hand.
- Pros: good dr
- Cons: bad staff
Best Doc Ever!!!
by Rebelmom665 at Citysearch
Dr. Gilcrease is the BEST! He does think outside the box when it comes diagnoses. I have seen specialist, after specialist, after specialist for the past 10 years with regard to an ailment that continued to progress with time. It was my local doc that was able to figure it all out! He looked beyond the "old school" ideals that certain hormone levels are fine, as long as they are within the acceptable scale. He prescribed a low-level of Thyroid and WAHLAH!!! I feel much better. My skin as cleared, my energy level is up, my hair has quit falling out. I don't know how to thank him.
All of this talent, and he is great with kids too, has a super staff and a wonderful PA. To boot, he is easy on the eyes. I highly recommend Dr. Gilcrease and I am so very happy to have him in our Buda community.
- Pros: Everyone in his office is top-notch!
- Cons: The time it takes to get an appt. for well visits is getting really long!
Dr. Gilcrease is Better than "House"!
by mruby78610 at Citysearch
I have been going to Dr. Gilcrease from when he first opened his practice in Buda. He continues to astonish me with his ability to diganose illnesses and has the patience of Jobe! I have never felt like he is in a hurry and takes the time to make sure that I understand exactly what is going on with my body. He also likes to draw! Anybody who has gone to him knows how he will whip out a pen and start drawing the body and how it works on top of the tissue on top of the examining table. He has a great bedside manner and always makes you feel entirely at ease. My son also goes to him and after returning from an appointment this week he announced that Dr. Gilcrease is better than Dr. House! That's a huge compliment coming from my son. Needless to say I feel that Buda is fortunate to have such a talented young doctor practicing right here in our little town!
- Pros: Very confident in his knowledge of medicine. Great Bedside Manner!
- Cons: Waiting list for Medicare Patients. My grandmother has been on the "list" for 3 years!
OVERPRESCRIBES ANTIBIOTICS
by antiantibiotic at Citysearch
Dr. Gilcrease prescribed antibiotics to my 6 year old daughter after listening to her chest, saying it sounded clear, and noting that she had clear nasal discharge. He did no kind of swab, labwork, or throat sample. I believe in the strength of using antibiotics to treat ILLNESS in children, however her "illness" turned out to be allergies. We will never visit Dr. Gilcrease's office again.
- Pros: Really nice, friendly, good with kids
- Cons: Will prescribe antibiotics for no reason
Best local doc
by txmawife at Citysearch
This talented physician has been my doctor since he arrived in the Austin area. He is talented, intelligent and above all else intutitve. He has the qualities you want in a local doctor - easy to communicate with, thinks outside the box for helath challenges, kind and current on the latest practices. His team includes a talented Nurse Practioner, a seasoned nursing staff and a friendly group of office professionals - all of whom make an effort to remember who you are. For me personally, Dr Gilcrease has, three times, diagnosed illnesses or conditions that "specilaists" completely missed. He is always conservative in handing out medications (doesn't over prescribe) and progressive in his treatment approaches. Small town doctor with big city talent!
