Gone Downhill...Very Disappointed
by Nana007 at Citysearch
When we first moved to the Pflugerville area almost 4 years ago Fish Daddy's was one of favorite places for dinner and we ate there probably once a week. Whenever friends and family came to visit we usually took them there for an enjoyable and affordable dining experience. We really enjoyed the quality of the food, the "Painkiller" was awesome, the staff was always very friendly and courteous & we also felt it was a good value. Unfortunately, I guess all good things must come to an end....The last few times we ate there it seems the place was starting to go downhill, but Saturday night we thought we'd give it one more try. However we both left feeling disappointed and told each other we'd be crossing this place off our list for good. To start, the hostessed seemed miffed we politely declined the table next to the noisy kitchen area, even though there were plenty of others available. Once seated we immediately noticed the place was in serious need of some attention...there were bits of trash & food scattered about the floors and our booth wasn't the cleanest either. A little more sweeping & mopping and a little less socializing between staff members. Our waiter was cordial, but kept trying to rush us into ordering even after we told him from the start we wanted to enjoy our drinks & apps before we ordered. (last time they slammed us with apps, salad and entree) The Painkillers did not look or taste as good as they once had. The Mexican shrimp cocktail was OK but was completely void of avocado. We shared the combination entree of shrimp etouffee', stuffed shrimp and fried catfish with coleslaw and red beans and rice. The stuffed shrimp was overcooked and tough, as was the catfish and every thing was SOOO SALTY we needed a gallon of water to get through the meal. It's unfortunate this restaurant has gone from great to below average in just a few short years, but there are many other choices in the area for a more enjoyable dining experience.
Poor Customer Service
by Graduate09 at Citysearch
Fish Daddy's was a great place when it first opened, but the customer service there is not what one would expect. I spoke to the manager there regarding a party and he was extremely rude and not understanding. The food is still decent but will never go back due to lack of customer service.
Food isn't all that great
by sekretshpr at Citysearch
Service great, atmosphere nice, food bland and boring. Went for lunch and was unimpressed with the quality of food and lack of flavor.
- Pros: Good service from the waitress who we had.
- Cons: Food isn't really all that great.
Relaxed Gulf Coast seafood chain for family friendly dining and bustling lunch hours.

In Short
The spacious dining room boasts a mix of business types on their lunch break and kid-toting locals in search of a seafood meal that doesn't require an expense account. The menu is dominated by a mix of central Texas flavors including a popular mexican shrimp cocktail appetizer and smoky gumbo. Seafood selections run the spectrum from blackened snapper and fried catfish to cedar plank grilled salmon. In the mood for something different? Try seafood sampler platter or cheesy seafood fondue. A children's menu is also available.
OK food but a little dirty

I would rate the place better, but the floors were sooo bad. The food was good but I could not get past the fact that the place was dirty. I don't know, maybe they should try mopping.
- Cons: dirty
Fish Daddies Evolves
by texanka1883 at Citysearch
When this place open a few years back it rivaled upscale coporate casual places such as Pappadeaux. It offered a wide variety of fresh fish at extremely reasonable prices. As the years have passed gone are things like Snapper, Redfish and Rainbow Trout. You can still get a decent Cedar Plank Salmon and an above average Mexican Shrimp Cocktail. But all the things that made this eartery above average are no longer available. The service is ok, the bar staff is good and management is attentive. But everything special is non-existent. This is still a great place for families and still a good deal. Just don't expect anything above average.
- Pros: This place is still a great value.
- Cons: All the premium fish are gone from the menu (e.g. snapper, redfish and rainbow trout)
BAD EXPERIENCE
by cookmelissa at Citysearch
The service was horrible. 1. We get our appetizers with no plates and finally the plates come out ten minutes later, after the appetizers are cold. Strike One! 2. We get our salads at the same time as our meal. Strike Two! 3. My son gets his chicken strips thirty minutes after everyone is served and we are leaving and, one of our guests at our table got his meal twenty minutes after ours. I waited out of courtesy until his meal came, thus giving the rest of us a cold meal. Strike Three! They, by the way, only compensated for my son's meal. The whole thing should have been compensated. The manager's tone was one of not being concerned or even believing my complaint. She immediately tells me she did not see any late meals to our table, as if I was lying and not sitting at my own table. She tried two other attempts to back her waiters up, until she finally listened and just compensated for my sons meal. I can see why they are having problem, with that type of management. THIS WAS A BAD EXPERIENCE! This is the second time I have had bad service. The last time I went to Fish Daddy?s, the waiter spilled a whole container of tea on me with no compensation and again, they slammed us with our salad and meal together.
- Cons: BAD SERVICE. YOU CAN EAT YOUR MEAL BEFORE YOUR SALAD
Grilled snapper with shrimp and crawfish cream sauce and buttery vegetables; superb!

You can't go wrong with the Snapper Alexander for $15. It's about as good as Pappadeaux but for a whole lot less. My girlfriend tried the shrimp scampi and it was good but she preferred to used the creamy sauce that came with my snapper alexander. So good! I love this place. Nice atmosphere. Huge aquarium. Friendly waitstaff. There's also a bar. Even when it's crowded, the wait is never long. Relatively undiscovered. I love the place. The Snapper Alexander can be had with blacked or grilled Snapper. The difference isn't huge because the blackening doesn't spice it up too much at all; mainly makes it a good bit saltier. Waiter named Miami always recommends blackened but I prefer grilled. Good place to take someone you care about.
- Pros: awesome food, casual atmosphere, friendly waitstaff
- Cons: not inexpensive enough to eat there every day but once or twice a month is cool.
