I have lived in the Domain for about five months now and I love everything it has to offer. The shops are convienent, the staff is friendly, and neighbors are great. There are a multitude of events hosted by the Apartment's Cares Team for neighbors to go to in order to meet with each other and have some fun, plus the events are paid for by the team! I understand the cell phone reception problem - however I only have trouble in the elevator of my building. That is not uncommon in my experience. If there is a problem with something in the apartment, I have received immediate service from very respectable office staff and service crews. The environment is always well kept, I love my home and imagine others would as well.
Pros: Environment, Friendly Staff
Cons: Can be pricey in different units, but upgrades don't add up to too much more compared to other luxury living units

I must say, I am an advit shopper. I was very excited when the domain being built. However I have one serious complaint. Sur La Table. Now when I go to Dallas I love to shop at their location. So naturally when I found out they would have a location at the Domain, well I was thrilled. Well let's them a second chance. This time was even worse. I had several sales associates pass right by me and never muttered a single word to me. Now if you see my hands full, would you think to offer me assitance. After 2 very poor experiences, I will not be returning to Sur La Table. How rude they are

The office staff is very unprofessional and they do not care about their residents. The staff lures new occupants into signing their lease and then treats them as "a number" once the paperwork is completed. The place is way over priced for what you get. The 300+ apartments did not fill up as originally planned so incredible deals were given to new residents. Thus, causing residents living side by side each other are paying hundreds of dollars difference in their monthly rent. Of course no reimburements were given to current residents. Despite most of these residents living there first did most of the marketing to promote new tenants...answering tons of questions regarding the apartments on the street to shoppers in the domain. Other problems include the cell phone reception is horrible inside the apartments! No matter the carrier, it is very poor in the majority of the apartments. Of course, the phones work great while standing on the streets at the domain; but once you enter the building..."no signal" is very common. The office staff working for the Residences at the Domain never answer the phone. They seem disinterested in you as a resident once you have signed your paperwork. The smiles go away and they could care less if situations arise while living there. All they care about is your $1000+ rent check. The last tidbit of information I would like to share is that the construction is poor. These apartments were built so quickly that the quality is not worth the $1000+ per month.

A good friend started a new tradition by gathering at Oakville Market in The Domain. None of us have a lot of money, but we've all enjoyed our weekly trip to "fantasy Island" if you will. I have lived in Austin nearly all my life, and my mother grew up in Hyde Park. Granted, Austin is not FULL of high end places like Dallas and Houston are, but there has always been AREAS of Austin that are well off. Has no one been in Austin long enough to remember Scarboroughs? It was THE place to shop in the 1950s and 1960s and it was a high end store, and it was LOCAL. I like the layout of The Domain, and the fact that many of the Live Oaks were kept in tact. I love the idea of having a market like Oakville that not only offers great ingredients but great prepared food. PERSONALLY, it feels more like Austin to me than ANY OTHER shopping center to have opened in YEARS. I've had great times there and hope we keep our little tradition going. My only complaint? I can't afford to LIVE there!
Pros: Great atmosphere, friendly people, beautiful layout
Cons: most of the shops and all the apartments are out of my budget

I am a Dallas transplant who missed the high end retailers so readily available there. I am so glad that I can now find several of my favorites right near where I live. The retail market is upgrading in Austin and I am so glad for it!
Pros: Shopping, shopping, shopping, not found elsewhere in the area.
Cons: Have to walk outside from store to store, with this wet summer bring an umbrella.

Agree with reviewer below. Offers a good selection of shops but it also feels like a piece of foreign turk invading Austin, trying to supplant local culture with a bit of upper tier Dallas snobbery. Yet, if you can stomach the pretentious ambiance, the shops THE DOMAIN offers are good, even if you feel like a tool en route to them. An Apple Store, Betsey Johnson, Neiman Marcus, etc. Nice to have those in the Austin area, but could have been managed in a way that didn't feel so plastic.
Pros: Selection of stores
Cons: Ambiance

I went to the Domain not long after it opened and while I am glad to see stores like the MAC store, Neiman's, Lucky, etc, I was not knocked down by the experience. I am from Dallas, and come from a long line of serious shoppers (mom even works for a Dallas shopping mall...). Having lived in Austin for a time, I am very inspired by the unique, casual, and artisitc environment, but that uniquely-Austin feeling is not present in the Domain, and therein lies my dissappointment. When I shop there, I feel like I am in Dallas again. But the stores are very nice, clean, well-presented, and I will continue to shop there, but only because it is convenient, and there are stores there that I can't find elsewhere in Austin.
Pros: Variety of high-end shops
Cons: Accessibility, Parking
