Agree: shopping here yes living here - NO!
by sealwhisperer
I have to agree with several of the reviews actually. I can honestly say that customer service is definitely not vocabulary words used or understood by the staff. Once you sign a lease - you do become just a number. And they are constantly 'away from their desk' and not available to answer questions. They also don't seem to communicate with one another or document anything so you are constantly repeating conversations. They also can't seem to balance the needs of the residents with the needs of the shoppers. There is way too much noise and way too much disrespect for those living here and paying outrageous rents. Shoppers block the entrance to the residents parking constantly. The noise after hours is ludicrous and no one wants to take responsibility for addressing it; security doesn't nor does the leasing company (who actually own the buildings). People treat the place like a dump. They are too lazy to walk 5 steps into the recylcing room when they don't want their mail. The elevators stink and constantly have trash in them. The trash 'rooms' on each floor are filthy and gross. The tacks coming out of the carpet are dangerous. The handles coming off the doors and cabinets are outrageous. The sprinklers jutting out of the walls are just poor installation and still haven't been addressed. The 100 degree heat in the hallways is stifling and doesn't help with the smell of the trash. The airconditioning seems to have some overall challenges - it's stopped working on more than several occasions. It's really been an overall pathetic experience. I would absolutely not recommend this to anyone. I wish I had done better due dilligence. I hope you truly reconsider living here if you are contemplating it. (I do want to include a positive. I loved my kitchen! And being able to walk to some great restaurants on this property.)
- Pros: shopping
- Cons: residences
Awful Customer Service at the Domain Residences
by beiserta
I had the worst customer service today at the Domain Residences. I stopped by to get information and a tour. The lady I talked to (I believe her name was Kristin) was very condescending, annoyed by my very simple and "normal" questions. She apologized when I was about to get up and leave without even looking at the apartments.
I am shocked and speechless! Needless to say I will never consider that place to call my home.
Excellent open-air venue
by emsmwhite
I visited the Domain last time I was in Austin (re: 9/20-ish), and was surprised by it. We originally ended up there to visit Macy's, but ended up wandering around a bit. The last thing I was expecting when we pulled up to a pretty average Macy's was to walk through it and have it attached to a pretty posh little shopping area. I love the open air atmosphere, and the shopping selection is excellent. It's clearly geared toward higher end shoppers, but that's fine with me! We also took a few moments to have a snack at the Steeping Room, which was also excellent. I enjoyed my few hours at the Domain so much that I plan to make it a stop on my friend's brithday weekend coming up at the end of the month.
- Pros: Variety of shops, everyone working was incredibly nice
- Cons: Wish I'd known of it sooner!
I have to agree with the last review....

I'm an avid shopper to say in the least and like every other girl enjoy my quality labels. I've been to most of the store here at the domain and they're great, pricey but great - a little sense of the big town for the good city of Austin. I liked it so much I decided to move in. That, however, wasn't as great as I thought it would be. If they have an event or something it's a nightmare to get home with the crowd and the traffic and the NOISE. Lots of noise at that when there's a concert or anything that catered. My apt. is over Louis Vuitton and I enjoy a great view especially when the weather is nice. I definitely rec. the shopping the not so much the residential.
Shopping here Yes, Living here NO!
by domainresident
The Domain is a great place to spend your weekends-shopping, eating, hanging out. However, I can't say the same for living here. Tremendous cost for what you pay and what you get. Horrible maintenance and huge "we don't really care" attitude from management AND the owners. As soon you're reeled into a lease, forget about being tended to when the need arises. The grounds do not get regular care-maybe by the fancy shops but no where near to where you live. This includes the parking garage, the resident elevator (which is a trash bin), the hallways, the common area under your balcony where trash accumulates. Your apartment is not worth a 1000+ rent check. The finishing touches on the apartment are atrocious: jutting carpet tacks, cheap shedding carpet, scratches all over your "new" wood floors, paint on the windows, no soundproofing whatsoever. It's so not worth it. Trust me. At the very least if you must see it for yourself, sign the shortest lease possible.
Lacoste
by PinataOblongata
If your a fan of Lacoste I would recommend going to macy's and buying instead of shopping at the store located here in the Domain. The staff are "so so" with the service and can come across as stuck up and rude!!
Fabulous Living - Friendly Faces
by Personwiththoughts
I have lived in the Domain for about five months now and I love everything it has to offer. The shops are convienent, the staff is friendly, and neighbors are great. There are a multitude of events hosted by the Apartment's Cares Team for neighbors to go to in order to meet with each other and have some fun, plus the events are paid for by the team! I understand the cell phone reception problem - however I only have trouble in the elevator of my building. That is not uncommon in my experience. If there is a problem with something in the apartment, I have received immediate service from very respectable office staff and service crews. The environment is always well kept, I love my home and imagine others would as well.
- Pros: Environment, Friendly Staff
- Cons: Can be pricey in different units, but upgrades don't add up to too much more compared to other luxury living units
Get your big-city shopping fix and some exercise to boot at this beautifully landscaped outdoor North Austin mall.

In Short
Luxury shopping no longer requires a trip to Dallas or Houston now that Austin has its own elaborate outdoor complex stocked with high-end retailers and indulgent lines like Tiffany & Co., Burberry and Stuart Weitzman. Electronics stores Sony and Apple, plus more affordable shops, including trendy home boutique Z Gallerie, makeup haven MAC Cosmetics and the ubiquitous Victoria's Secret and Banana Republic, provide opportunity for all to spend. Also included on the property, nine worthwhile restaurants and a slew of deluxe lofts overlooking the shop-lined boulevard.
Very poor poor Customer Service Sur La Table
by shopper1973
I must say, I am an advit shopper. I was very excited when the domain being built. However I have one serious complaint. Sur La Table. Now when I go to Dallas I love to shop at their location. So naturally when I found out they would have a location at the Domain, well I was thrilled. Well let's them a second chance. This time was even worse. I had several sales associates pass right by me and never muttered a single word to me. Now if you see my hands full, would you think to offer me assitance. After 2 very poor experiences, I will not be returning to Sur La Table. How rude they are
DO NOT MOVE INTO THE APARTMENTS AT THE DOMAIN
by bsmith30
The office staff is very unprofessional and they do not care about their residents. The staff lures new occupants into signing their lease and then treats them as "a number" once the paperwork is completed. The place is way over priced for what you get. The 300+ apartments did not fill up as originally planned so incredible deals were given to new residents. Thus, causing residents living side by side each other are paying hundreds of dollars difference in their monthly rent. Of course no reimburements were given to current residents. Despite most of these residents living there first did most of the marketing to promote new tenants...answering tons of questions regarding the apartments on the street to shoppers in the domain. Other problems include the cell phone reception is horrible inside the apartments! No matter the carrier, it is very poor in the majority of the apartments. Of course, the phones work great while standing on the streets at the domain; but once you enter the building..."no signal" is very common.
The office staff working for the Residences at the Domain never answer the phone. They seem disinterested in you as a resident once you have signed your paperwork. The smiles go away and they could care less if situations arise while living there. All they care about is your $1000+ rent check.
The last tidbit of information I would like to share is that the construction is poor. These apartments were built so quickly that the quality is not worth the $1000+ per month.
