The final straw = won't go back.

I have been defending this place from friends who complain about how crappy the service is, and how expensive the pizza is, because I really like the crust. But today, I give up. They're right, this place deserves a citation. I was just charged $.75 for two slices of tomato the size of a half dollar. And with attitude from the counter girl as well. The folks at Austin's Pizza are super nice, so save yourself the irritation and walk south.
- Pros: great crust
- Cons: BAD service, BAD management

Came last nite with friends because someone recommended the pizza. I have never had sauce this bland before! The waitstaff (and kitchen staff) look more mellow than the name suggests. The decor is over the top rediculous with cartoony characters everywhere. A pretty good beer selection, but if I wanna get drunk, I don't want to stare at bad art. If that is supposed to be Willie on the kayak...don't tell him....I don't think he would enjoy this likeness at all! The crust was the best part of the food, but way overpriced, too long of a wait, and the service....well, you can guess. Good Bye Mellow Mushroom! Hello, the other 5 pizza joints around.
- Pros: crust, pesto
- Cons: the wait, service, prices, decor

Too Little, Too Late

The pizza is mediocre....I could tell right away the dough was frozen. What do you expect, this is a chain man. The sauce is bland. The service is horrendous! Our server did NOT know her menu and it took over 30 minutes for the pizza to reach the table. We were so ravenous at that point we ould have eaten the table. I have been here before when it wasn't so bad and the owner actually came to my table and talked with us. I have heard a nasty rumor that the corporate machine has run the original owners out. What a shame. They never had a chance in Austin because there are too many other pizza places that are better tasting and much cheaper. (i.e. Slices and Ices, Mangia's, Hungry Howie's, etc. etc.) Does anyone want to buy a great spot on the drag.....it will be avalaible soon.
- Pros: decor and artwork
- Cons: no parking, takes too long to eat, too pricey, bland food
Great pizza

I usually get the calzone, which tastes great. The pizza is just as good. The wait for the pizza is kind of long, but it's because they're made to order. The service is usually good and the decor is interesting (paintings of mushrooms everywhere). The price is higher than other pizza places on the drag, but the pizza is better than other places on the drag.
- Pros: great pizza & calzones
- Cons: parking

Don't know about the rest of the menu but it's a pizza place. What more do you need to review? Went in for lunch and found no buffet, (thank god) and no pizza by the slice turning to cardboard under a heat lamp. This went in their favor right off the bat. A wide range of toppins are offered so I ordered a 10" (the smallest) perfect for one person. Got pepperoni, mushroom, and roasted red peppers. (carefull on the mushrooms, if you want portabello they count as a double ingedient charge) The red peppers counted double so it was a four topping pizza for about $14 w/iced tea. The pizza was WAY better than a gatti, or domino, and way better than any buffet or heat lamp slice, but over all just average as far as good pizza goes. I'm a ny pizza purest type of guy so the crust was just a bit to thick altho good and it was chewy. Just not the thin ny folding crust type of thing, and nowheres near the great ny flavor. The sauce was good and the cheese was enough. If it's easy at the moment for you it's worth it, if no, go get some real pizza at Saccones, or Reales.
- Pros: nice clean place
- Cons: average pizza
