PERFECT GET AWAY TO NIRVANA
by jessicaedge
My new husband and I chose Lost Parrot Cabins as our honeymoon destination.... were we ever blown away by the sights and sounds. The colors, the art work, the owners... all awesome.... we actually never wanted to leave. We highly recommend that anyone reading the reviews of the cabins give this oasis from the real world, a try. If I had to choose one word to describe the Lost Parrot Cabins I would say nirvana. My husband and I plan to return every chance we get for the rest of our lives.

Cool & Funky Austin Hideaway....

All we can say is.... Wow!
We were looking for a nice place to stay over the fourth of July on Lake Travis in Austin. We waited too late and all of the lake houses were booked. We stumbled across the Lost Parrot Cabins and are so glad we did! The cabins are nestled away in the hills near Lake Travis. Although they are not waterfront, they are in a great outdoor setting with a beautiful hill country view. The cabins are charming and very ecletic, very Austin like! The property owners are wonderful and made sure our stay was a memorable one. There was live acoustic music one evening poolside which was the perfect way to end a fun filled weekend. We strongly recommend staying at the Lost Parrot Cabins. It is a unique experience you won't find anywhere else.
- Pros: Secluded, outdoor paradise
- Cons: No lake access, steep charge if you have more than 2 people per cabin
Most beautiful and unique B&B

My boyfriend and I just visited Lost Parrot Cabins and had a wonderful, relaxing time. Very Carribean-like, charming, funky, fun and the perfect place to sit back and enjoy. You are so close to everything you need yet have the feeling of being far away. The service is fantastic! We were able to bring our dog, listen to the great Saturday night band and truly relax. Thanks Lost Parrot! We will definitely be back many many times.
- Pros: pet friendly, beautiful bungalows and facilities
Enjoy the laid-back life at this remote, island-inspired B&B.

In Short
Tucked into the wooded hills near Lake Travis, this vibrantly painted bed and breakfast provides a secluded getaway with an eclectic island feel. Six unique bungalows mixing Caribbean cool with Mexican folk art house cozy feather beds, stocked kitchenettes and private decks. Guests have free reign over the hillside pool, two open-air hot tubs, nearby trails and the communal BYOB party deck. Other amenities include complimentary breakfast, free wireless Internet and an extensive DVD library.

The real feel of old Austin

We have stayed at Lost Parrot several times. The cabins and grounds could not be cooler or more comfortable. The innkeepers, Cat and Cliff, are Austin treasures and always find a way to make your stay more fun.
- Pros: Hospitality
- Cons: none
Lost Parrot Cabins is where you'll wish you could be when you are not even in Austin!

Lost Parrot Cabins is my favorite roost in Texas. The atmosphere is mellow and casual... like Austin used to be. It is an incredible patch of paradise tucked away so well you'd never know you were in a major city.
The innkeepers, Cat and Cliff, are people we want to go to see again and again - and do. They are genuinely nice people in addition to being efficiently professional.
The service is outstanding. The special little touches leave you feeling quite pampered, yet at home.

Nothing is more pleasant than kicking back and relaxing at Lost Parrot. The most amazing thing about it is that being there just "feels good". Romantic liaisons, honeymooners, grandparents with children or cats, singles with dogs or business trips... I have honestly never seen anybody leave Lost Parrot disappointed.
As remote as it feels, you are only moments from shopping, great entertainment, and excellent dining too. The hot tub, party deck, pool, nature trail, palm trees, flowers, murals everywhere, coupled with the warm ambiance of the decor (every cabin is different) will keep your senses busy. (Good Grief! I have begun to gush!)
Eclectic, artsy, fun, it is a feast of color and playfulness. I do recommend the Lost Parrot Experience wholeheartedly.
Be warned however, once is never enough!
Great Place to Chill while in Austin!

This is a totally cool and funky place to stay when in Austin! Close to the lake and easy to get to town and the best cabins around! We stayed 3 nights and had a great time!
Best place to relax/friendliest hosts
by cfromcanada
We found Lost Parrots by accident online and when we visited from Vancouver last year. We spent a weekend there, and wished we could stay longer. The cabins are clean and beautiful, the property is quaint and private, and Cat and Cliff are fantastic hosts! We loved it so much we're getting married there in June '07! And we're dragging 30 people there from Canada to do it! How can you love a place more than that?
A terrific hideaway retreat!

I found The Lost Parrot Cabins on line. It's website promised an artsy, funky, fun retreat; and that's exactly what it was!
Each room is an individual cabin. They're all decorated differently, but in the same style.... filled with interesting art pieces, and paintings. You can tramp through the Texas junipers and scrub oaks, take a dip in the pool, or just sit on your cabin porch and listen to the woods around you. The service was great! Friendly and genuine. Everything you need is there.
If you want suggestions or directions to adventures in town, they're readily given. If you're looking to get away, for a little while.... I've never found a better place to go.
- Pros: Wonderful ambiance. Very romantic
- Cons: A little far out from downtown, if you're mostly interested in the club scene/ night life
