I've been to Salon 505, Bella's, Toni & Guy, Aziz, and Avenue Express. Robert at Aqua is a diamond in Austin. He's very good at what he does. He listened to what I wanted, instead of what most stylist wanted for me. He's also very reasonable with his pricing and he backs up his work, which many stylist do not even attempt to. I recommend Robert to people who love to find rare deals, but yet only want the best.
Pros: Don't have to wait months in advance

This was my second visit to this salon, but my first time with Ashton. My previous stylist moved back to Florida. I told Ashton that I wanted to keep the cut similiar but I wanted a fresher color. I also said I wanted it to have dimension and be shiny. She spent three hours coloring, cutting, and washing my hair but it looks amazing. She cut it wet, cut it dry and styled it nice and straight. My hair looks healthy and I have received tons of compliments. If you are looking for a stylist who can cut and color equally well, Ashton is the one for you!
Pros: Great location, friendly & knowledgeable staff, good prices, quality products

I began going to Ronny and Robert several years ago when they were at another salon in town, and followed them here. It took awhile for Aqua Blue to get up and running, thanks to crazy City of Austin delays, but it was worth the wait! The salon itself is comfortable and convenient and all that, but the REAL reason to choose any salon is, of course, the stylists. You can't beat Ronny and Robert!! I go to Ronny for cuts and Robert for color, but that is just because they were limited that way at their previous place - I would be comfortable with either of them both cutting and coloring my hair - and I am NOT easy to please when it comes to my hair or stylist!! You go, guys!

OK, so I just moved to the city back in December, and needed a hair-cut bad, and had NO idea where to go. I called another place on here that got great ratings, and the lady on the phone I was trying to make an appointment with was RUDE!! So, I decided that since this place was new and had good reviews I would give them my businees rather than a place that obviously thinks they're too good for new customers. Everyone was very nice, and the place was very clean! I wanted to decently major change...lose a lot of length and new style. Tricia was fantastic! Almost 100% exactly what I wanted. but I really think the reason it wasn't 100% was more my hair than her skills. I loved this place, and will definetely be going back for trims and future services! Can't wait til they start doing waxing! And, for those who don't know....the salon has a website on MYSPACE. Seeing pictures before I went in would've helped me decide to go there in the first place.
Pros: Close to popular area, reasonably priced
Cons: closed Sun and Mon, pretty busy Sat.

Its unique name, which stands out amongst it's contrastingly non-attention getting names of it's adjacent business neighbors is what first caught my eye. I was apprehensive about going since my luck elsewhere was not so great. But my mind was quickly put at ease when I saw the patrons leaving with great hair. I went inside. I could tell by looking at the interior that it is a newer business owned by someone who is trying very hard to make it different without breaking the bank. Blue paint, indie art, upbeat music, and nicely kept workstations are what I saw when I came in. The inside look has a ways to go with regards to design. I was immediately greeted by Robert (who's clients were walking out with great hair). He introduced me to Ashton (whom I expected to be male, but she is very much not), who would be doing my hair. Both were dressed very modernly. She squeezed me in for a later appointment and was honest about her schedule (I was a 'walk in). Upon returned, she offered to take my coat and a drink. She made sure to really research the haircolor I wanted, having me step into the light for a true match, asking me where I part my hair. Their service was SUPERB. Ashton, it seems, is a mind reader. I was tired of my same old cut, wanted something spunky, shorter, straighter. I'm in my 30's and needed a cut that was good for my profession, but didn't make me look all "mom-ish" (which some other stylist had tried to do to me- blech). I admited I'm lazy about doing my hair (naturally curly) in the mornings. She was not afraid to tell me the truth when it came to the style I wanted, and what I'd have to do to get it. When she was done, she BLEW my expectations away. If products were out of stock, she provided suggestions. I LOVE my new hairdo, thank you ASHTON, you ROCKED MY SOX. I found my new hairdresser. I want to make sure she stays in business. I got SO SICK of looking. If you are just as SICK of looking as I was - go to Aqua Blue Ashton or Robert.
Pros: Awesome Cuts, Great Color, Stellar Service, Hip,
Cons: Interior Design Could Use More of a "push" to make it "be" what they really want

WOW! I can't say enough about this place. I recently moved here from Los Angeles, CA and have felt lost ever since until I walked into Salon Aqua Blue. The salon isn't even finished yet but already has the wow factor. I was greeted at the door by the owner and the all of the stylist made it a point to speak to me. I was offered coke, water, and even beer. And not just when I walked in but for the entire time I was there getting my color and cut. The best part is that when I was done my hair looked the best it ever has. Thanks to Robert. If you are looking for a great atmosphere, great conversation, and fabulous hair then please try this place you won't be sorry. From what I understand there will be a dj spinning , as well as a waterfall, and beautiful artwork lining the walls. For now great music, tv's, great magazine selection, great art, and a very hip atmosphere. By the way I have long, thick, naturally curly hair that is a monster to work with and I barely trust anyone to touch it.
Pros: Easy to park and right off exit 183 Burnet
Cons: none
