This bar is a decent place to hang out. The decor and atmosphere are very nice and relaxing. It seems to attract a good crowd as well. We had a pizza here, and it actually pretty good. However, I ordered a few Jack and Cokes, which seemed to be light on the Jack, and VERY overpriced!

Pros: Good atmosphere, pretty good food

Cons: Drinks are OVERPRICED

you should go here. it won't be regretted. the owners are great people who love the industry and that love comes out in the layout of their bar. i've been quite a few times, stayed much longer than i had planned and had a terrific time every time. the food is delicious (especially the pizzas) and the bartendars are helpful and super cool. the layout of the bar lets you people watch and the patio is nice and chill. go to j. black's and enjoy yourself. it's pretty much guaranteed.

We could not have picked a better place to watch the game! We had a great time trying out the HH menu. It wasn't too crowded, but we weren't the only ones cheering. My sister in law also brought me here to have drinks for my birthday with the intention of going somewhere else later. We ended up staying the whole night. We have had a great time every time we have gone (a million by now), and look forward to a million more!!!

Pros: everything

A group of us went to J Black's the other night and had a great time. We sat in the back and ordered some appetizers. The pizzas were great and the drinks were good - strong but flavorful. I had a Mexican Martini and everyone else had Apple Martinis or Mojitos. The staff was attentive and the atmosphere was classy yet casual and relaxed. I'd highly recommend this place for an after work happy hour or a great place to start your night on the town!

I went to J Black's last night after work and had a great time. We ordered a variety of their appetizers created by their executive chef. This is not your average bar food. It's delicious! You MUST try the Margherita Pizza, the Queso Blanco and the Crab Cakes.

Pros: Ambience, Food, Service, Clean Restrooms

We went to J Black's last night after work. The menu had a special Happy Hour deal and we sampled many appetizers. I enjoyed the Pigs in a Blanket, the carnivore pizza and the queso blanco. All of the appetizers beat my expectations. In addtion, the lounge had a good atmosphere and the patrons all seemed to be enjoying themselves. The only area of opportunity was my Jack & Coke seemed to be pretty light on the Jack.

It is the feel good, taste good drink good place! I loved the food! Crazy to say, but this is the best food I have had in a bar EVER! We had the Hummus ( huge portion for hummus) with warm pita bread , the Margarita pizza ( yumm! ) the crab cakes ( had to place two orders of those, they were that good! ) and the pigs in a blanket ( I didn’t get one of those, they FLEW off the plate) and Queso, and chips ( creamy, creamy , creamy queso!)……….yes we did drink too ! The apple tinys and lemon drops were not only great, but also a good size! No more shot size lemon drops for me! You have GOT TO RUN TO this place if you are in Austin. Me, I was visiting from Dallas! What a find!

Pros: GREAT SERVICE! aMAZING FOOD AND LOVED THE ATMOSPHERE!

Cons: ONLY IN AUSTIN I am from dallas

Well it wasn't the best service when it first opened, but I go all the time and I must admit I get great service and those I talk to get great service as well. It's a great crowd, no gangsters like East 6th. The music is good and I like that there are all types of events on the TVs around the whole bar. The food is amazing! I recommend the pizzas and the hummus... but it's all been good so far. I highly recommend this bar and I live downtown (I know the bars down here VERY well). Recently I had a 60+ person event in their VIP section and they did a great job! Only knock... I don't like goat cheese and many of their items contain it.

This is the hot new spot on West 6th! They make great cocktails and have cocktail waitresses for the back table area; I'm still working my way through their menu of unique sharing plates; and there is always a great crowd of fun, hip young professionals. I've been there a number of times for Happy Hours and ended up staying there the rest of the night. The atmosphere is so comfortable and they play great music, its hard to leave! And they have a VIP section set off to the side which is a great spot to reserve for a birthday party or group event (I brought my coworkers here a few weeks ago for a company HH)...has comfy seats, flat panel TVs but its not totally cut off from the rest of the bar -- so you can still keep your eye on the cute guy/girl across the room! JBlacks has only been open for about 2 months but i think they've got staying power for this area and clientele. But because its still new, some weekend nights it draws a very large crowd, so dont get too frustrated if it takes a while to get a drink...its worth it in the the end. If you haven't been there yet, you're missing out!
