i love the tiny bar!

by grundletaint

I love this place. It's dirty, small, and right in the middle of downtown. Weird mix of people works for me, too!

  • Pros: fireman's 4 on tap and 2 dollar bloody marys
  • Cons: What are the drawbacks?

More like Shittiest Bar in Texas

by sls87

You've got to be kidding me. I ordered a vodka cranberry and a Lone Star and it cost $13. And, they were chintzy on the vodka. Seriously, WTF? The bar tender wasn't exactly oozing charm either. Not the cute dive it appears to be; gimmicky.

If you're looking for something low-key and partially outdoors, I'd recommend Club de Ville or Mean-Eyed Cat instead.

  • Pros: . . .
  • Cons: Price, Drink Quality, Deuchy Bar Tender

Low Key and Fun!

by sirenseye

It's so great to find a bar that is easy-going, but still all about atmosphere and customer service. Drinks are really cheap, and the live music is wonderful. Easy to get to - right on the street, but far away from the 6th Street drunkard crowd (which is awesome). I went last night and the Austin Ice Cream Festival truck pulls up and starts handing out free ice cream! The band - the Bus Stop Stallions - was really fun and energetic; perfect for a hot summer night. Check this place out to avoid the normal downtown crowds!

  • Pros: Cheap drinks, live music, good service.

very "Austinish"!!!

by blah_blah_blahdidy_blah

This bar is different from most any bar I can think of in town because it has people from all walks of life. People you might see at a preppy bar, gay bar, rocker bar all come together to enjoy great music (often a lot of 80s and Indie) in a very low key atmosphere. I am also totally hooked on Tito's and Sweetos. This is Tito's Vodka with Sweet Leaf tea. Anyone from the SF bay area might see a similarity of vibe with Zeitgeist in the mission district. Me likeskit!!!

  • Pros: Great Location, Great People, Great Music, Great Vibe
  • Cons: Lines at the bar, but thats true anywhere I guess

drinks are next to nothing, but so is the atmosphere

by connie_sewer

the photo here is flattering. up close, it's pretty shabby next the glitzy condos and the whole foods compound. drinks are cheap and there is a good selection, but it's a little grungy and it's right on the road. better hope it doesn't get cold or rain because there is nowhere to sit inside.

  • Pros: cheap drinks, good location
  • Cons: zero atmosphere, car exhaust level, noise level, no indoor seating

Friendly neighborhood bar features an ample deck and beer garden overlooking the bustle heading further into downtown.

In Short
Texans are known to exaggerate, but they don't often boast that something is the smallest. The bar is essentially the size of a snow cone stand, serving beers, margaritas, Mexican martinis and other mixed drinks. Located near an increasingly busy location, back behind Whole Foods and Pure Austin Gym and amongst the condo buildings, the bar serves a mix of neighborhood upscale professionals and residents who enjoy the comfortable patio chairs and low-key atmosphere.
