I recently came over from another salon in town that shall remain nameless, following my old stylist Kristin. John Girard is much better. A lovely, well lit, and extremely chill salon in the heart of downtown Austin, this is a place I know I will keep coming back to. The owner is very nice, and the rest of the staff are very personable and charming as well. Kristin does my color and styling, and I have to say she is a genius with it. Nowhere have I seen someone better at colorwork than her, and I have been around. Her cuts are impeccable as well. This Salon is highly recomended for it's talented staff, inviting, relaxing atmosphere and overall high quality experience. Thanks Kristin!

I came to John Girard Salon on advice from my roomate, and was blown away by Kristen's talent. She is a master stylist, INCREDIBLE with color, and can do a blowout like nobody else. She made me look like I just came off a film set. My boyfriend was thrilled when I came home. Kristen is hands down the best at cut/color I have EVER SEEN. Very warm, really takes the time to get to know you, make sure you get what you want. She is very committed to making sure you leave 100% satisfied with your new look! Another happy customer!

I highly recommend John! He has taken an always disappointed highlightee and turned me into a devotee of his magic! John is always willing to work you in when he can and WANTS to hear your opinion about his work. John is lighthearted and above all does an amazing job. He is a true professional.

John Girard Salon surpasses all expectations and trounces the competition. First, John MacDonald is one of the most wonderful people and that personality shows through in every part of his work and his salon. I first came to John in 2001 and instantly loved him. Years (and 2 cities) later, I still drive from Dallas every other month just to see him. I rarely come in with a plan for my hair...I just leave it in his capable hands and every time he's finished I feel beautiful. Second, John has worked long and hard to open his new salon and it shows. Nowhere else do you get the quality treatment that you do there...from the gorgeous walkup, the bright sunny interior, the friendly staff, hand massages while color sets, makeup touch-up, and of course the BEST shampoo in town. Honestly, I'm not sure why someone would go anywhere else!

My hair looks the best it has ever looked!!! I went to see Kim B. and I had no idea what I wanted. She helped with an amazing cut and the best color I've ever had! I get compliments on my hair all the time now, it made such a difference, so I thought I'd tell everyone that I can where I got it done. I will tell anyone who will listen about Kim, she's amazing at what she does and hilarious!

Pros: Fabulous Haircuts-Hilarious personalities

I would not go anyone else, or trust anyone else with my hair-- Kim B. is the most phenomenal colorist, and Kristen gives me hands down the best hair cut I've ever had. Not to mention the fact that they are two girls who I genuinely look forward to seeing.

Pros: Highly talented, fun, friendly staff, great location!

After being in Austin for 4 years and searching for the right stylist. John was recommended to me by a friend and I am so glad he was. He took the time to get to know what I was looking for and gave lots of suggestions of what he thought would look best. I totally trust him and give him free rein when it comes to the cut and color of my hair.

Pros: I can totally trust him with my hair

I tend to be a little, shall we say, "high maintenance" when its comes to my hair. I looked for two years to find the perfect stylist - and I finally found one - John MacDonald! I started with John in 2001 and wouldn't go anywhere else. He's an expert at color, very accommodating with my crazy schedule and gives the best shampoo in town! He's always been honest about what will and will not look good and takes the time to get to know each client's hair needs. I give John my highest recommendation!

Pros: Accommodating- Great new location
