A hidden gem!

Wow...everything about Shiner's Saloon (not salon) is perfect. From the intimate atmosphere to the variety of food to the terrific drink specials to an extremely friendly waitstaff. It's a fantastic happy hour spot as well as a very accomodating place to hold an event. The owners had a dream of opening their own bar and now we are reaping the benefits. Great job guys!
- Pros: Ambience, location and prices
- Cons: None come to mind
The little touches make this place
by TxCarebear
I've been to Shiner's Saloon on multiple occasions - a few times at night and a few times to watch football games. They have several big TV's and plenty of chairs and tables to sit at. I love their decor and heavy ranch-y style chairs...but my favorite part about this place is the hooks underneath the bar for your purse!! That is a HUGE plus for girls. The bar menu is unique with a Texan flair - I love the "quesadillas" with brisket in them and they even give you a side of BBQ sauce to dip them in.
Great Place for Football!

This place is a great place to party on the weekends because they have great looking waitresses, very reasonably priced beers, and just a great atmosphere. I really like going there on Sundays for the Football games because you have plenty of room to watch the games, really good bar food, and TV's everywhere! I love this bar!
Second-floor Shiner-themed saloon adds a little downtown class to Texas-style roadhouse.

In Short
Enter on Congress through the swinging saloon doors and head upstairs to the classy Texas saloon built partly with reclaimed wood from an old house in Shiner, Texas. The décor is an ode to the Lone Star State with leather furniture, cowhides, a longhorn mural and chandelier made entirely out of Shiner beer bottles. Windows at the spacious bar provide unobstructed views of downtown Austin and the open floor plan makes for beer-happy mingling. The menu is also cowboy-themed with apps like Shiner beer sausage and shrimp dip with chips plus nachos, kolaches and sub sandwiches for hungry cowpokes. Entertainment includes Golden Tee and Buck Hunter plus a half dozen 42-inch flat screens showing UT football games and a full sport package.
