Best Auto Repair in Austin!!!!. I moved here from out of state and was looking for an honest mechanic. Gilbert & Steve are exactly that. I have taken my Chevy Malibu to them for about 2 years now. They have done everything from fixing my wheel ball joint, to oil changes to recently replacing my left front hub assembly. Stolen 5000 dollars and misrepresentation. Not trustworthy OR Affordable! I brought Steve 5000 dollars and an example of the motor I wanted. He was told at that point, the TOTAL I can spend on restoring this car was only 10,000 dollars. The engine would NOT take up all of that. His worst complaint was he didn't like the piston brand in my example, which I authorized different brand on the spot. He then started preaching about custom work, the end result of the preaching being that he would SEEK AUTHORIZATION before doing anything, but I would have a better motor. He then sought authorization on a total of 1200 dollars worth of changes (better cam shaft, better pistons), but sent me a final total that showed 4000 dollars over!!! The end result was he had taken it upon himself to charge up a 9,000 dollar motor, and it was STILL missing parts to be complete!!! NEVER was that authorized, he took that upon himself. Court proceeding are to follow now. This all started in July of 2010, it is now December and he dragged it out this long. Steve's (the owner of Protech) failure to be honest cost me severely.…

Really experienced, friendly and affordable place. I went to Protech for the first time last week for a brake service on my old Subaru Legacy. Finally found some good mechanics. I have been driving for about ten years and these are the first guys I have come across that I trust. I have been to many different mechanics and never found one I liked. I have not had any maintenance done to my car yet by these guys, but my girlfriend and I brought her car in to them a couple times so far. These guys are honest. They took us into the garage to show us exactly what was wrong with her car. They told us how much it would cost to fix it and even offered us an alternative that would not last as long, but would cost us less in the short term. Last week my girlfriends mom was in town. She lives about an 1 1/2 hrs from Austin. Her breaks went out on her truck due to a brake fluid leak on the front passenger side caliper. She had no brake pressure and did not want to drive far so we tried Lambs and Wal-Mart which was right down the road from her job. They both said they couldn't look at her truck because they were closing in an hour so we called Pro-Tech since we already had work done there on my girlfriends car. They took her moms truck in and stayed late to fix it on a Sat. since she was not able to drive back home. My girlfriends mom had her truck back in an hour and was able to drive back home. The guys at Pro-Tech earned my trust as well as my girlfriends and just made two new repeat customers. Honest Auto Repairs!!!. Most automotive repair shops will take advantage of woman, thinking that we don't know the difference between brake fluid and oil fluid, struts, rotors and fallopian tubes!!! (LOL!) After getting an estimate from my local Toyota dealership for repairs, which sounded overpriced, I brought my car to these guys and they saved me $$$, not to mention got the job done faster! Even an oil change is less than the dealership, and they use premium brand oil and filters!I'll definitely recommend them to all my friends :)…

Great place to take your car!. These guys are awesome. When my car needed extensive repairs they made every effort to keep costs low yet make sure my car was safe and functional to drive.
